FERROVIERI NEIGHBORHOOD
VICENZA, VI
Following an in-depth analysis of local hazards, the Ferrovieri Neighborhood of Vicenza was identified as an area at elevated risk for flooding and high temperatures. In order to reduce the probability of future disaster events, a series of strategic actions are implemented to fortify the urban fabric in the city, reducing risk for all residents.
*Project completed as a group effort with partners João Abreu, Elena Trevisan, and Nicola Vanzetto

ANALYSIS +
SYNTHESIS
Hazards, vulnerabilities, and exposure were combined to determine ares with the highest risk. Among those areas was the Ferrovieri Neighborhood, where an in-depth structural analysis was conducted to determine specific building vulnerabilities.

RESPONSE
In response to the specific hazards and vulnerabilities which were identified, three conceptual strategies of rebuilding, reshaping, and repurposing were designated to define a framework for infrastructural improvements to the urban fabric

ACTIONS
Within the three conceptual categories 22 total actions were defined, ranging from regulations for more resilient structures, implementation plans for alarm and monitoring systems, and building specific renovations and implementations. Each action works together as part of a larger network to strengthen and protect the neighborhood.
